“Innovation in Cyprus: The way forward” – Science, technology and innovation are drivers of economic growth and social welfare. The role of engineering in creating innovation and prosperity has been evident throughout the years, with engineers being at the heart of nations’ innovation capital. The concept of innovation and the role of engineers are, however, changing nowadays, as a result of the digital revolution, globalization, growing inequalities and environmental concerns. In view of the upcoming new wave of deep and transformational innovations at the international scene, there is a growing demand for a holistic approach to innovation and for a redesign of educational and life-long learning systems to equip the engineers of the future with the skills required.
